What About My Feelings?

We have taught for many years on the need to renew our minds with the Word of God, bringing every thought captive to Christ.  2 Cor 10:5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. NIV

This is part of the transformation process that we are supposed to do daily,  Rom 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will. NIV

So changing your life around starts with controlling and thinking on the right thoughts that line up with God’s Word and promises!  Thank God we are saved when we truly repent and ask God to forgive us of our sins and invite Jesus to be the Lord of our lives.  But you cannot stop at salvation, because we all need to be transformed like the caterpillar into a butterfly.  This is a DAILY process of yielding to the Holy Spirit.
Many today are saved, but they still have to deal with a carnal mind and all the sensory inputs from a fallen world to take control of their thoughts.  If we don’t do this the devil will have a field day in your thought life to keep you in bondage to all sorts of strongholds, that have been built up by wrong emotional attachments, and wrong thinking for years!

So yes, your feelings and emotions have to be trained and renewed, just like your thoughts, to line up with the word of God.

Prov 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart , for it is the wellspring of life. 24 Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. NIV

Many have been ruled by their thoughts and emotions for so long, they just react instinctively to things that happen around them.  Wrong ways of thinking have become established patterns, coupled with wrong emotions have built strongholds of the enemy that have to be demolished by the anointing of the Holy Spirit to set you free.

Instead God wants to give you His thoughts and His peace to help you guard your mind and heart at all times.

Phil 4:7 And the peace of God , which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. NIV

Put on the helmet of salvation to protect your mind, use the shield of faith and breastplate of righteousness to protect your heart and proper emotions.  Allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you in the area of your feelings, don’t shut Him out. Don’t hang onto wrong feelings, just like not hanging onto wrong thoughts, to be set free!
